At SAS Global Forum, SAS was showing SAS 9.2, which featured new analytic capabilities and statistical graphics. It also includes the capability to create functions using the FCMP procedure for use in data step programming.
The conference unveiled the results of the 2008 SASware Ballot. The top request was to add to the SORT procedure the ability to separate duplicate observations. Voters also asked for more control over the log and more flexibility in macro language programming.
The new statistical graphics are based on ODS Statistical Graphics technology, which SAS had been experimenting with in release 9.1.
The new SAS Stat Studio product provides an environment for data exploration.
SAS announced the acquisition of Teragram and plans to integrate its multilingual natural language support into SAS Text Miner and other SAS products.
